Winter skincare routine

Winter skincare routine

Australian winter is notorious for bringing out the worst in our skin. So how do we cure these winter blues? It all comes down to hydration – however, there’s more to that than lathering on a rich moisturiser. Here are our top tips for keeping skin hydrated and glowing:

-Exfoliate

Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and is one of the most important steps in your skincare routine!

Winter is a good time to exfoliate more often, due to the lack of UVB rays from the sun (the rays that cause sunburn).

However, UVA rays are present all year round and these are responsible for the breakdown of our collagen.

Make sure your skin is protected year round with a natural, mineral-based sunscreen, and get plenty of antioxidants – both internally and topically.

Exfoliate once or twice a week with an at-home peel containing glycolic acid, salicylic acid or both!

After the first peel, your skin will feel soft and smooth and after four weeks, it'll look even better.

Try our Chemical Miracle, the ASI AHA Power Exfoliant.

-Targeted serum

Unlike a moisturiser, serums have a lipid-soluble base which allows the active ingredients to penetrate into the deeper layers of your skin, instead of on the surface.

Our Advanced Vitamin Boost Collection is a trio of intense skin treatments designed to target skin concerns and transform skin with results like never before.

All our serums can be layered and need to be used before applying other creams.

Vitamin A Corrector is a targeted night treatment to accelerate skin renewal. It exfoliates skin at a cellular level to encourage the production of collagen and elastin. You’ll wake up with clarified and refined skin that is firmer and brighter.

Use three times a week at night. Apply 0.25ml (1 pump) to cleansed face, neck and decolletage. Leave on overnight and cleanse off in the morning.

Vitamin B3 Complex is the ultimate serum for skin health.

It enhances skin clarity, hydration, and illumination while boosting collagen and elastin.

Use daily. Apply to cleansed skin. Massage 0.25ml (1 pump) onto face, neck and décolletage.

Vitamin C Serum is the ultimate antioxidant hydration serum. A power-house serum that’s bursting with 25% pure Vitamin C to boost collagen and elastin.

Experience skin radiance like never before!

Use twice weekly as a treatment, or use daily as a makeup primer. Massage 0.25ml (1 pump) onto cleansed face, neck and décolletage.

-Upgrade your moisturiser

Your skin needs moisture to replenish the water it loses throughout the day.

Moisturisers with ingredients such as hydrating hyaluronic acid, illuminating Vitamin B3 or Zinc can restore and enhance skin health.

Even if you have oily or combination skin, it’s still important to moisturise. In fact, a lack of moisture can drive your skin to produce more oil in order to compensate for it, which can lead to clogged pores and breakouts.

Applying a moisturiser will maintain skin health all day, giving your skin a healthy hydrated glow.

Top Tip: mix a Vitamin C based Serum to your moisturiser!

Mixing the serum to your daily moisturiser will enhance the hydration effect and also work as a great anti-pollution barrier.

For night time, this top tip will boost your collagen and elastin production while actively repairing skin blemishes and premature aging. Vitamin C will refresh and refine your skin from the inside out. Sleep easy knowing your skin concerns are being treated!

-Apply a hydrating mask

If winter weather leaves you wanting to hibernate, embrace it and enjoy some indoor self-care rituals that will both soothe and hydrate the skin.

A hydrating facial mask offers the skin a deeper drink of moisture and can be a wonderful step directly after exfoliating when the skin is prepped and primed to soak up that moisture like a sponge.

ASI Hydrating Saviour:

A calming mask enriched to purify skin

A potent cosmeceutical mask enriched with detoxifying Volcanic Clays, hydrating Sodium Hyaluronate and an advanced Perfection Peptide. Formulated to purify, heal, hydrate and enhance skin clarity.

Best of all, Purifying Hydration Mask uses uniquely compounded ingredients that detoxify by absorbing impurities, toxins and excess oils while allowing oxygen and beneficial minerals to fill and hydrate the cells.

Targets - fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, open pores, dehydration, breakouts, redness, and sensitivity

-Use a humidifier

Most places, including your office, are warmed with dry heat, which, as the name would imply, dries out your skin. A cool mist-style humidifier can do wonders for balancing ambient humidity levels, which in turn will help keep your skin from becoming parched.

Give your bedroom a spa-like atmosphere by using a humidifier along with an essential oil diffuser. You will wake up feeling and looking brand new!

IMPORTANT - Do NOT use the Vitamin A Corrector and Rejuvenating Night Treatment when pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive.

Vitamin A increases the skin's sensitivity to sunlight thus photosensitisation makes the skin more susceptible to sunburn. We recommend using these products as NIGHT treatments only.
