Transform your skin with these simple tips and tricks

When it comes to great skin, following these simple tips and tricks will allow you to achieve the glowing, hydrated, plumped and luminous skin of your dreams, and we’ve saved the most important tip for last.

Simplify your skincare

Skincare doesn't need to be complicated, and you definitely don't need to use 3 different exfoliants, 9 different serums and 6 moisturisers. Keep it simple. Build a capsule skincare regime and focus on targeted products with key active ingredients to fight your individual skin concerns.

Get a professional recommendation

We all love a good skincare TikTok recommendation - myself included. But don't skip speaking to a skin expert to ensure your products will give you the best results possible, fight your skin concerns and keep your skin healthy and happy with confidence, knowing you’re making the right choice in your product choices.

Wash your pillowcase

Trust me, you don't want to think about all the nasties that could be hiding on your pillowcase. A clean pillowcase can do wonders for your skin. In fact, it's so important we wrote an entire blog about it. Check it out here

Read the directions

Sometimes we get a new skincare product, and we are so excited to try it that we dive right in and put it on without reading any instructions. Always take a moment to read the instructions and find out how frequently you should be using it if you are applying it to dry skin or damp skin, and if it needs to be followed up with anything. Getting these steps right will ensure you're getting the most out of your skincare

Always apply in an upwards motion

Little old gravity is constantly dragging our skin down. Make a habit of applying all of your skincare products in an upwards motion. This helps to keep your skin lifted and tight.

Be patient

Keep in mind, if you've had a little break in between using a cosmeceutical skincare range or using it for the first time, it's perfectly normal for your skin to go through a detox phase while getting back on track. You may notice a few breakouts or flakiness during this phase - stick with it! This stage is temporary, and you'll soon be on your way to your best skin ever.

Use a mask

Using a cream mask or sheet mask once a week is an absolute game changer for your skin. Masks help target different skin concerns like dehydration, premature ageing and breakouts. Top tip! If you have an event coming up, pop on a sheet mask before your skincare and makeup. Trust me. Your makeup will go on flawlessly, and your skin will stay plumped and glowy all night.

Don't skip moisturiser

I see you.

"My skin is too oily for moisturiser."

You may not realise it, but moisturising morning and night will help balance your oil flow. When our skin is stripped or not getting enough nourishment, it will try to balance itself by producing more oil. Plus, your moisturiser helps to lock in all of your beautiful serums and supports your skin's natural barrier function.

Not all moisturisers are the same. If you're prone to excessively oil skin, go for something lightweight but ultra-hydrating and balancing. We absolutely adore R3 Relieve Repair Restore

Check the expiry

We are all guilty of buying a super luxe product and using it sparingly in hopes of it lasting forever. But the truth is, regularly using a product will maximise your results and prevent it from expiring before you finish it. Unfortunately, all products have a shelf life. After this time, they can be less effective or lead to irritation/sensitivity. Keep an eye on your products' expiry; it might be time for a new purchase if something is out of date.

Sunscreen. All day. Every day.

Any skin expert will tell you sunscreen is the best product for avoiding premature ageing. Ensure you use sunscreen every day, even in winter and even when you think you're barely going in the sun.

Mineral is best

Think of makeup as an extension of your skincare. It covers our entire face, and most of us use it daily. Stick to mineral makeup to avoid breakouts, redness after removal and other signs of sensitivity. The Australian Skin Institutes mineral makeup is available in cream and powder form, offering buildable coverage with a stunning flawless finish. I am high-key obsessed. Take a peek here

Book in for a facial

We are so lucky to have so many incredible treatment options available when it comes to facials. Take advantage of the cutting-edge facial treatment technology available. Treatments like Skin Needling, LED Light Therapy, Hydra-Microdermabrasion, Cosmelan, and professional peels will help you treat all kinds of skin concerns far more rapidly than using skin care alone.

Exfoliate. Not too little. Not too much.

Exfoliating sweeps away dead skin cells to reveal brighter, luminous skin. It also increases product penetration, leading to better results from the rest of your skincare. But you really can overdo it. Try to avoid physical exfoliants that can lead to micro-tearing and sensitised skin. Instead, go for a gentle chemical exfoliant. The Australian Skin Institutes AHA Power Exfoliant is a must. Use this product 2-3 times a week, and I promise you will be absolutely stoked with the results. Check it out here

Consistency is key

When it comes to great skin, it's all about being consistent! Be consistent with your product application and your facial treatments. Find what works for you and your lifestyle, create a routine you enjoy and stick to it. So if you want the glowy, hydrated, luminous skin you’ve been dreaming about, it’s truly all about being consistent!

I challenge you to try these simple tips and tricks and see the difference in your skin for yourself. Happy glowing!
