What Is Squalane?

Squalane is the stable, shelf-friendly version of squalene, a lipid your skin produces naturally as part of its protective barrier. Because its structure so closely resembles skin's own oils, it absorbs easily and leaves a soft, non-greasy finish.

It's a useful ingredient to pair with actives like retinol, helping to cushion the skin and offset the dryness that can come with increased cell turnover.
